Businesses feel crush of snow

Looking like 2009 will come in with more snow

Though there are many sources for long-range forecasting, I'm not a big believer in the ability of anyone to pin down upcoming monthly snowfall totals.

Otter will name names on Tuesday

BOISE – Idaho Gov. Butch Otter says he'll appoint the state's lieutenant governor on Tuesday – that's the same day that current Lt. Gov. Jim Risch will be sworn in as a U.S. senator and resign the state post – and Otter has named names of 16 people he's talked to about the job.

Ski-Mor memories

Breakfast at Blue Plate Cafe, 'perfecto'

Breakfast plans were momentarily waylaid after cruising by the Blue Plate Cafe and seeing that there were more cars in the parking lot than there were square feet in the restaurant itself.

Intersection closing

Spokane Valley drivers didn't get the message when the city put up a sign at Argonne and Indiana prohibiting left turns from the northbound lanes during most daylight hours. After hundreds of people violated the new rule, the City Council voted this week to permanently close the intersection.

Ski-Mor memories

Chamber awards gala Jan. 24

Make plans now to attend the sixth annual Awards Gala hosted by the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce Jan. 24 at the Mirabeau Park Hotel.
